Breanna Meets Dora.

Bree has fallen in love with Dora, all over again. She has been asking ever since to 'Cuddle Big soft Dora'.

I had to peel her off Dora to let the next child have a turn.

Baby Chicks

This picture was taken at our front door, when the chicks were 2-3 weeks old. I just found it while i was trying to load the pictures I took on Wednesday.

I have been meaning to add these pictures for AGES.

I'll do them from the start, of 'Lee Loo' sitting on the egss the day the first chickens hatched. I saw the first chicken at 11:30am on the 9-2-11. It was a little black chick, with a white dot on the right side of his beak. I called it Terrence. It took until the next morning to see the other chick's. 8am we see chick's 2 and 3. They were yellow babies, Alira named them 'Little one' and 'Cherry'. At 1pm that same day we saw chick 4&5 another black chick, and a very fair grey/yellow chick. Alira named the black chick 'Wired' and she named the grey chick 'pin-pin'

The chicks spent a lot of time in the yard with us, the dogs were so kind to them. Then at about 3 weeks old I moved them down to the pen. They were ALL getting very annoying and poo-ing on the decks etc.

Once the chicks were a bit bigger, it was hilarious to see the chicks all try to get under their mum, she had to spread herself fairly thinly. Now the two biggest chicks are roosting. But the smaller 3 chicks still lay with their mum.

My prediction is that at least 3 of them are Roosters, maybe even 4!

Alira's first day of Kinder.

Today was Alira's first day of Kinder! she went so well, I was late picking her up and felt like the worst mum EVER!

I said 'Alira we are going now' and she said, without even looking at me 'bye'. She did give Bree a cuddle and kiss. She told me she love's Kinder and she made a house out of blocks, did art and ready a story about 3 owls :)

I am starting to enjoy the LUXURY of walking without the pram!

The other exciting thing happening is that Lee-Loo chook has been on the nest for 20 days today, her chicks are due tomorrow evening or Thursday morning!!!!! I have my fingers crossed so tightly because this is our third try, I think we have ticked all the boxes this time!!

Being blackberry season, we are hoping to get up to the hills this week and get a good load of blackberries. We ALL eat them (including the dogs). There are some minor vines around our place, so i should be able to get enough for a pie, if the girls leave them long enough to be baked!

Im trying to do the maths in my head, if a hen stays on the nest for 21 days, and she started nesting on the 10th of this month, then.. the chicks are due on the 31st. That's tomorrow! I better get down to the pen and have a closer look at whats going on under that fluffy bottom.

So it has been a busy month. Things have been slow. After putting all our money into the new 4wd, it has proven to be a total lemon, and we have thrown good money after bad! Its going to cost 2k just to get it back on the road. With all our tax back,finally, we can start the repairs. Even though the car is still stitting in the shed broken, i feel like a little stress has gone, knowing we have the $$ to fix the car, Then the bloody thing will be sold. And i get to keep my black baby ;)
Because of all this stress, we have been a fairly grumpy house. I think the weather literally puts a dampner on things too. Even with the fear of hot weather in the back of mind. I am really looking forward to summer.
I am currently planning Alira's 4th birthday party. She asked for a Disney princess theme. I have decided to make cupcakes, and buy little jewels from ebay to top them. My sister Jo is bringing the invites she made this afternoon, so i am pretty excited to see them.

Anyway i better push on and do my housework, I have clear some space in the kitchen for ALira and I to make pizzas for tea. I have to have them ready to go straight into the oven when we get back from picking Tim up. He is leaving his car for a tune in Warragul this afternoon, another little something that has needed doing for ages, so nice to finally have some cash flow, after being so stupid to spend ALL our money on a 3rd car.

Hen is still on the nest! She gets off very quickly to have some food, then returns. She looks very serious!

Today was the first time since having the girls that I have set my alarm. Im going to try to make a habbit of that! However, i had it set for 7am, and didnt actually hear it until 7:12am lol. Breanna slept in until after 8am, so Alira and I got the chance to cuddle and actually talk to each other without having Bree between us. Usually I wallow in bed for AGES and Alira just waits and waits for me to get up. So thats the main reason for the alarm, trying to be a better morning mummy. So then the girls both went to Day care and I have spent the day cleaning/shopping as per usual.

First Post.

I actually meant to start this blog yesterday, but ran out of time. (The story of my life!) I wanted to begin yesterday, because yesterday our little baby hen decided to 'nest'. She is a baby no more, hopefully .. in 21 days, she will be a mummy. One of the older hens sat on the other nesting box for around 3 hours yesterday, but must not have the same 'staying power'. She lept off when i opened the pen and threw in the pellets.

This blog will act as my journal. I need to start writing things down. Simple things that happen in a day. For the first time since having children, I feel I may have the time to keep a record of what we do. I feel like I have missed so much of the past 4-5 years, and wish I had started recording 'things' a long time ago.
Everything up until now felt like a battle, to simply function on a base level. Eat,sleep,play-eat sleep,play. No time for anything other than maintaining my family.
I want to use this blog as a way to improve my self, my organisation, and my level of motivaton. A starting point, from here on in............
